Under the direction of the Human Resources and Diversity Director and the Leadership United Program Manager:
Diversity Volunteer Awards- Coordinate activities of the awards which may include but are not limited to the following: assist award selection committee, attend and support steering committee meetings, publicize and promote the breakfast event to individuals and organizations, recruit and train event volunteers and provide logistical support during event.
Indiana Black Expo - For both the Job Fair and the Agency Exhibit, coordinate booth logistics and participation by UWCI and United Way agencies (including staffing), assist in design and layout, staff UWCI booths especially during key times, set up and tear down booths and perform related tasks as necessary, arrange and conduct event evaluations and produce written recommendations for improvements.
Assist in the coordination of UWCI participation of community events including Indy Pride, Latino Fest and the Asian Alliance Festival.
Special Projects/Activities - As time permits, learn about other functions of UWCI and assist with special projects that may be available during time of internship.
Promote a cooperative spirit within the organization and among internal and external United Way participants.
Perform other duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
This internship requires at least two completed years of college residing in Boone, Hamilton, Hancock, Marion or Morgan counties in Indiana. Demonstrated history of effective organizational, oral and written communication, follow-through and customer service skills, including an outgoing and engaging demeanor is a must. Must be reliable, detail-oriented, self-motivated and able to meet deadlines. Strong skills required in Microsoft Office products. A record of community work, such as volunteer service at school, church, non-profit organization, etc. is essential. Must be able to lift/pull up to 40 lbs. Reliable transportation with valid driver's license and insurance required. Must be available to work weekends of key events.
